Establishing a Culture for Learning...

Greetings to our Pre-service student teachers on this fine day before Spring! Some of you have newly begun your second assignment while others are continuing with your initial placement.  Along those dividing lines, I'd like you to think about and respond to those in your same situation (new or remaining) the concept of establishing a culture for learning, or Domain 2b in the Danielson framework for teacher evaluation.

Specifically, reflect upon the following:

1.  What have I done to establish a culture for learning in my continued placement?
or What did I do in my previous placement to establish a culture for learning and intend to improve upon in my second placement?

2.  What do I see my cooperating teacher do to establish a culture for learning on a daily basis, weekly, monthly, annually?

3.  What is my vision for "Establishing a Culture for Learning" for my future classroom?

Provide examples to support your answer.  Please remember to post within 48 hours.  Your subsequent posts must be provided by Monday's class on March 23.

Parent - Teacher Conference Response

In yesterday's seminar session, you were given the option to choose one of four parent-teacher conference scenarios to read and provide a response.  Your blog post for this week should be an initial response to the scenario that you selected. Please see the Blackboard folder for Week 5 for the four scenarios.  Support your response with personal experiences from the current student teaching placement, former field experience, or other professional-related experiences that will provide your classmates with richness and detail. Good luck!

Student Teaching Friends...
So far, so good with your posting to the blog.  The next blog assignment is combined with an online video that I have selected for you.  I posted the information on Blackboard under Week 2.  The video entails new teachers and their experiences.  Your post should surround your thoughts about the video and how they compare and contrast to your first weeks of student teaching experience.  If there are any unique aspects of the video that you'd like to discuss. Here's the opportunity to do so.

Happy Blogging until next week...

Happy last Friday of January 2015 and the second week of student teaching for the Spring Semester!
As you began this journey last week with excitement, anticipation, and many other emotions, you had expectations in your mind of how the first two weeks would unfold.  Lets take a look at these weeks and share with one another the most exciting event that has happened to you in your experience thus far.  Similarly, please comment on the single event that has caused concern, hesitation, or left you with a feeling of thinking, "I need to know more about this."  Please make at least one entry to this blog before Monday, February 2, 2015.

Good luck and happy blogging!
As always...
